The fall of Rupee (our indian currency) or rupee depreciation had always been a theory I confronted during my MBA days....I actually got hit by this concept during my first overseas trip across Indian boundaries to Bangkok. The city is too small to be on world map but what an amazing infrastructure - be it a drive from Bangkok city to Survarnabhumi airport or the road trip to Pattaya or the waterways with the Chao Phraya river cruise. There is no denial to the fact that Thailand Tourism has boomed the economy of the country which has strengthen the Thailand economy. This puts me in dilemna what keeps India away from booming its economy through tourism which is so rich in resources? The ruppe has fallen to a level that traveling abroad makes a hole in one's pocket. The value of Thailand Baht to Indian Rupee is just double which was not the scenario few years back. Should one blame the systems or government policies or the citizens? The blame game shall continue but what is alarming when and will the situation change? It hard time to realize that we need to understand the cons and take immediate action. Why cant we build high tech infrastructure and explore waterways to boom the tourism in India. Mumbai's waterways can be explored to the maximum in all possible means.
